Adventures in Parenting (...thus far)

The first thing we did after leaving the hospital was to head to Sonic to get 44 oz drinks, Chicago dogs, tater tots and mozzarella sticks.

Ezra started getting upset and we figured out that the gauze from his circumcision had gotten attached to his diaper, had come lose, and was still attached and pulling on him in one specific spot. We spent almost an hour and a half putting warm wash cloths on him and smothering the area  with Vaseline. He was so upset and so we resorted to giving him a binky and feeding him formula. Yes, there were tears on both sides. Lots of tears.

Rolled over at 5 days. Woo hoo!

He struggled to eat from the beginning and although he knew how to latch and suck he didn't care to do it. Each time we would try to feed him he would immediately fall asleep making it difficult to give him food. He also didn't do anything but sleep despite all our efforts to get him to be awake. After his first night home, not eating, and feeling like a horrible mother, I noticed yellowing in his eyes and nose and suspected jaundice and so we took our little guy to the hospital where his biliruben levels were 10.4 and a little higher than normal. While at the hospital we pumped and he ended up eating everything we gave him. For the time being, babe will be receiving breast milk from a bottle.

The realization that I was the one that was supposed to remember to bath this little guy.

Getting him an appointment with a family physician instead of a pediatrician...

He LOVES to mark his territory on Sam.... sometimes it happens several times within an hour.

Didn't start fully breastfeeding until 2 weeks.

Loves showers with Dad. Hates baths.

At 3 weeks old he got pink eye and we ended up back on the ER.

Grammie and Pachy came to visit for a while when Ezra was 2 weeks old and we had a great time.

Love that he smiles and laughs in his sleep.

I started developing mastitis around 3 weeks. Fortunately we caught it early enough that it wasn't unbearable and the antibiotics kicked into gear.

5 weeks old and we had our first blow out. Props to Sam for changing him...
